Dads Make a Difference

What do Danny Tanner, Dan Connor, Dre Johnson, and Gomez Adams have in common? That’s easy, especially if you grew up watching old sitcoms; the answer is that they are all iconic TV fathers.

According to The Fatherhood Project, “research shows that when fathers are engaged with their children during the prenatal period, they are likely to stay involved throughout the child’s life.” (1) As I surveyed parents for my new program, I was delighted to hear that expectant dads were as interested in prenatal education and postpartum support as the moms. Way to go dads/partners!

As many of you know, I will be offering a new online course for expectant parents (moms, dads, partners) this fall. In the Positive Partners module, dads/partners will learn hands-on skills they will need to be ready for fatherhood from the get-go. They will acquire tips on bonding with baby, be able to demo basic baby care skills, know why gatekeeping is not helpful and how to avoid it, and utilize dad-specific checklist to prepare for baby’s arrival. This is just one of the 12 modules, so stayed tuned for more sneak previews of the course.

If you are expecting a baby and want to join the inaugural cohort, please email me at hello@bevgillen.com.
